Love Jones

The opening to the pod cast was creative because as soon as I heard the line I smiled slightly and knew exactly the movie they were talking about. It was such a famous line and when the film came out it was popular because it was real and cute in a way. When the film first came out I wasn't old enough to watch it but later on when I was it became one of my favorite love stories. Love Jones was a very complex movie in which a lot of people cannot understand. From the pod cast when the plot was broke down I understood the whole just of the movie past the love story. The character of Nia Long was a flawed one. As a woman she slept with Lorenz Tate's character probably to soon into their relationship, then ran away from the relationship they formed. She got back with her ex who gave her an engagement ring, went back to Chicago and started sleeping with Tate's good friend. Long's character was into playing games and didn't know what she wanted more than likely because her previous relationship broke her down. Therefore she treated the one with Tate as if it was a game of not getting hurt first. Inadvertently she almost ruined was probably could have been a healthy relationship since her break-up with her previous boyfriend whom she was clearly in love with. Tate was perhaps more mature at the time the way he handled their relationship and was probably more sophisticated in thought than Long while they were together. While you’re watching the movie the characters trap you within the story so you don’t realize what’s actually going on. You have to have an adult and mature mind to understand that the movie is a flawed one. But it was so easy to watch the movie the first time with an immature mind, get into the characters and fall in love with the concept and plot of Tate and Long falling in, out and back in love.
